- Running activities when teachers are absent, need breaks or work a part-time schedule.
- Assist in multiple classrooms to cover for teachers or serve as a permanent substitute for days or weeks depending on what is needed. This typically involves managing and supervising groups of four to ten children, which is never any trouble for you. After being assigned a class, you thoroughly review lesson plans as well as plan, implement, and supervise the daily program for the class while upholding our school's philosophy.
- You manage the classroom by teaching and playing age-appropriate developmental activities with the class. Following our school's play-approached tactics, you ensure the children are excited about learning while engaging in a variety of activities. You arrive to work each day ready to take on any task that is assigned to you. Teaching and assisting in the developmental growth of children is what you're passionate about, and this is why you are perfect for this substitute teaching position!
- Must complete the 10-hour Virginia Preservice training
- Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive attitude and work ethic – must be a team player!
- 6+ months of programmatic experience, working in a licensed and/or accredited child care facility required.
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, or another child-related field. (assistance available for those who want to further their degree!)
- Does not have scheduling restrictions between the hours of 6:45 am-6:15 pm
